Apple’s latest Macintosh OS X will be released on August 28th, which is available for pre-order already. For Leopard users you get to upgrade your OS X for a petite $29 dollars, with free shipping to boot. If you’ve recently purchased a Mac then you can get a discount to the already low price for the upgrade. If your purchase was made between June 8th to December 26th ‘09 then you can benefit from the Up-to-Date program that lets you upgrade your new mac for $9.95!! Now the downfall will come to those who have stuck around with tiger and won’t to get in on the action. Apple is providing the Mac Box Set that gives tiger users the Snow Leopard OS X, iLife ‘09, and iWork ‘09 for $169 bucks. But sad to say all of those with a power-pc core will need to upgrade there systems as Snow Leopard only works with and Intel core.

Well there’s your OS X update, that’s all for now.

Once again, it’s time to start some marketing for the Zune. Every once in a while rivals companies Microsoft and Macintosh will release some ad’s for their magical music playing devices,Microsoft Zune and the Apple iPod. While the iPod has the solid color/technicolor crazy moving background with moving silhouettes dancing around to some new hit single type of commercials, the Zune commercials really only have random spots showing off the product with different people.

Lets be honest here, how far has that taken them?

Now, it looks like Microsoft has stuck with their money theme and now slapped iTunes with their costumers wallet.

If you don’t feel like watching the video provided above, Wes Moss (Certified Financial Planner), points out that filling a 120 GB iPod at iTunes costs $30,000. Now with the ZunePass, you can buy a monthly subscription for unlimited downloads for $14.99 a month. Now, with everything else in the world, there are pros’s and con’s to this subscription. One pro being that this is unlimited downloads! I myself can download close to 200 songs in a given month. BUT, I’m going to need to keep paying 15 bucks a month to keep listening to those songs. And let’s say you canceled you’re account with Zune. All you’re sounds are gone, a tough parting gift huh?

Now, it’s not all bad. Microsoft has a great idea which has been in effect since the first Zune came out. But people are so hooked on iPods, no matter what you do, it’s going to seem like an uphill battle to compete with it. Unless I’m wrong, which I am a lot. I’m an iPod person with close to maxing out my 30gig iPod with everything under the sun. What’s your preffecnce of music players and do you think that Microsoft is going to sell more bricks with this advertiseing tactic?

Who want’s some good news regarding Windows 7??? (We do!)

Today, the big news surrounding Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 is the release date. The Microsoft Corp. announced that Windows 7 will be released some time around the holiday season of 2009, anywhere between the middle of November or early December. The staff here at DCF got our hands on the first RC of Windows 7 and will most likely be doing a review on the OS thus far. From what we can say now from minor fiddling with the system, we love it like the awesome uncle on you’re mom’s side of the family. The other announcement that was made was regrading Windows Server 2008 R2. It’s available today!

What was said by a spokeswomen was that “We have not made any final end-of-sales decisions for Windows Vista”. What was made clear was that once an operating system released, it is company policy to keep an OS in distribution for at least for years after its debut. So, since Vista was released back in January of 2007, it means that Vista will stick around until 2011. “Under the Support Lifecycle policy, Windows desktop licenses are available for four years after general availability in all standard product distribution channels — direct OEM, system builders, retail and volume licensing programs via licenses or via downgrade rights.” The mainstream support for the OS might be put to an end by April of 2012, around three years from now. So those not wanting to upgrade to Windows 7 just yet, you still have a few years to make up your mind.

Hey poor people who like fun video games! Guess what! This weekend, not only is Microsoft letting sliver members taste the sweet nectar of online play with FREE Golden Membership, Steam is letting you play the PC version of Left 4 Dead for a full 24 HOURS! The free Xbox Gold Membership will go into effect today, Friday May 1 through Monday May 4. For me, it’s a gift from God, but for everyone else here on Digital Cross Fire, they pay for Xbox Live Gold. I have the PSN mentality . . .

The 24 hours are dwindling down for Left 4 Dead from time of writing. Beginning 5:01 p.m. PDT Thursday and end 5:00 p.m Friday, you will be able to download the Stream program, download the game, play Left 4 Dead, then buy Left 4 Dead 5:10 p.m Friday. Trust us.

Hey guys, its my first blog post so I though I’d make it interesting ;). Apple has just released some info on their new OS X, Snow Leopard. At first looks it seems as if it’s just an addition to there current OS X, Leopard. Does the name hint at the future of it? I would have to say so. Snow Leopard isn’t getting all fancy-smanchy like with the jump from tiger to Leopard but instead will refine what great material they already have in front of them. “A Quantum Leap” as explained on the official Apple site; they are going with “Core Innovations” to give Leopard that extra boost it needs every now and then. Let’s face it mac users, it’s not a pretty sight looking at that rainbow swirl (Color Wheel of Death) when you know the program is frozen. With Snow Leopard’s upgraded core software it saves up on initial hard drive space that it must gobble up to run and lets you use it on more important things like unrelated word documents and crazy photos of last nights’ party. If you’re a Mac gamer then get ready to blow your mind because with 64-bit OS X support you can use up to a theoretical 16TB of RAM. Now lets get real, who in there right mind would be able to utilize that massive amount of power? That is a godly amount of pure technological goodness! Snow Leopard will also support more multiple cores and be able to squeeze ever last drop of processing power out of them so you get more bang for the buck before you even overclock. You’ve heard of OpenGL, now get ready for OpenCL (Open Computing Language). Now you can tap into you GPU to get things done even quicker by using it for more general purpose computing. And if that wasn’t good enough we now have Quicktime X which has got to better right? Just look at that big-ol’ X, it makes every thing better! Quicktime X is more streamlined and boosts it’s Internet potential while making playback even smoother. For all those Firefox haters out there they even hopped up Safari to run JavaScript up to 53% faster making online applications more responsive. That means a lot less Color Wheel folks! Well I hope you enjoyed this post, I know I sure had fun writing it.

Amalgam Illness

Amalgam Illness is one of the medical conditions that is often overlooked by medical professionals in today's society. What exactly is amalgam? Amalgam is a substance made of nearly 50% mercury that is used in dental fillings in almost every dental practice today. How many people do you know that have fillings? The amount of people with amalgam fillings probably number in the thousands. It doesn't have to even be from amalgam fillings that you have. The mercury poisoning can occur from amalgam vapors that are left in the air when the dentist has finished drilling out someone's filling. There are so many syndromes today that physicians call 'myster syndroms' and do not know how to treat at all. Some of these syndromes they classify as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, anorexia, and recurrent depression. I assure you that these are no mystery syndromes and are definitely mercury poisoning. To cure these syndromes and diseases, they must be treated as mercury poisoning because it is ineffective to treat them with the usual methods........

........Fluoride Poisoning - when you see these words it sounds like a joke right? Wrong! This is serious business so listen up. The nonprofit organization, Fluoride Action Network, has been conducting international studies to find the different affects of what too much fluoride can do. The first thing you want to know is always avoid swallowing toothpaste and drink spring water when it is possible. If you cannot do that then find a way to filter the water with stringent guidelines aimed to remove as much fluoride and chlorine as possible. Fluoride is a seriously powerful poison and even more so than the feared lead poisoning! Don't believe me? Okay, I want you to seriously consider why so many pesticides and rodenticides use fluoride as it's main active ingredient. Every year there are thousands of reports to poison control centers in the US that are related to fluoride poisoning.

Amalgam Illness

Amalgam Illness is one of the medical conditions that is often overlooked by medical professionals in today’s society. What exactly is amalgam? Amalgam is a substance made of nearly 50% mercury that is used in dental fillings in almost every dental practice today. How many people do you know that have fillings? The amount of people with amalgam fillings probably number in the thousands. It doesn’t have to even be from amalgam fillings that you have. The mercury poisoning can occur from amalgam vapors that are left in the air when the dentist has finished drilling out someone’s filling. There are so many syndromes today that physicians call ‘mystery syndromes’ and do not know how to treat at all. Some of these syndromes they classify as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, anorexia, and recurrent depression. I assure you that these are no mystery syndromes and are definitely mercury poisoning. To cure these syndromes and diseases, they must be treated as mercury poisoning because it is ineffective to treat them with the usual methods.

Mercury can cause a bewildering variety of problems. In fact, one of the major criticisms of amalgam illness is that it is cited as the cause of so many things. But, like the parable of the blind men and the elephant, mercury can indeed cause many diseases. Modern physicians are not trained to find the root cause of a sick person’s problems. They are trained to translate what they see into latin, look it up in their textbook, and apply a cookbook treatment. With a toxin that poisons fundamental metabolic processes different people will experience different symptoms to start off, depending on their own individual biochemistry. As the poisoning becomes more and more serious, further symptoms surface and the modern doctor adds more diagnoses - a patient who starts with depression might later be considered to have hypothyroidism, allergies and asthma in addition. But no thought is given to why one person should develop more and more “diseases,” when a single diagnosis - chronic mercury poisoning - could account for them all.

Some of the “diseases” a modern physician might mistakenly misdiagnose chronic mercury poisoning as are:

Addison’s disease

Gastritis

Fluoride Poisoning

Fluoride Poisoning - when you see these words it sounds like a joke right? Don’t believe me? Okay, I want you to seriously consider why so many pesticides and rodenticides use fluoride as it’s main active ingredient. Every year there are thousands of reports to poison control centers in the US that are related to fluoride poisoning.

Dental Fluorosis

This is what teeth my look like after dental fluorosis occurs

Excess fluoride ingestion during a person’s childhood can yield a result of dental fluorosis later on in life. It is now known that fluoride ingestion in the early years damages the tooth-forming cells that a person needs to develop healthy adult teeth. Visible discoloration has been observed in people that have dental fluorosis. Dental fluorosis can cause increased porosity of the enamel. This will eventually lead to chipping, fracturing, and ultimately decaying of the teeth. The Center for Disease Control reported that 32% of America’s children now have dental fluorosis in a study made in 2005.

Fluoride’s Impact on Brains

Fluoride’s effects on the brain is currently undergoing substantial studies. There are currently 18 human studies in India, China, Iran, and Mexico. They are doing a correlational study which compares a child’s IQ with increased levels of fluoride in the system. There is reports of 3 studies that have been done (Yu 1996; Du 1992; Han 1989) that report accumulation of fluoride in fetuses and causing damage to cells and neurotransmitters. Animal studies have also come accross evidence that have been documented. These studies suggest considerable toxic effects on brain tissue from fluoride. The following is a list of the animal studies’ findings:
– reduction in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors;
– reduction in lipid content;
– impaired anti-oxidant defense systems;
– damage to the hippocampus;
– damage to the purkinje cells;
– increased uptake of aluminum;
– formation of beta-amyloid plaques (the classic brain abnormality in Alzheimer’s disease);
– exacerbation of lesions induced by iodine deficiency; and
– accumulation of fluoride in the pineal gland.

Hey, I’m Oliver, one of the few talented members of Digital Cross Fire. I’m here to feed you your news you might have missed. Weather it is tech news, world news, or just random news I believe needs to be heard. I have much to say on everything and anything and I hold back nothing.

Poor Phillip Alpert of Orlando Florida. He had a good relationship with his girlfriend. They have been dating for close to 2 1/2 years and young Phillip had just turned 18. Sadly, they had gotten into a fight, which is not uncommon for most relationships. What is uncommon is what Phillip had done next.To get back at his girlfriend, he had sent a naked picture of his 16 year old teenage girlfriend to a few friends and family members. This stupid stunt lead to the arrested of Alpert and was charged with sending child pornography. He was sentenced to five years probation and required by Florida law to register as a sex offender.

Sexting has became a huge issue within the teenage community. Sexting is the act of sending sexually explicit text messages to a boyfriend or girlfriend (Or whoever). Also, it may include sending of naked or borderline nude pictures to your mate. What no one seems to understand is brought out here.

CNN.com - Alpert in disbelief, explaining, “You think child pornography, you think 6-year-old, 3-year-old little kids who can’t think for themselves, who are taken advantage of. That really wasn’t the case.”

Teens who take part in these actions do not seem to find problems with it. No one under the age 18 is able to pose nude for any adult site, same is applied to pictures for personal use. Although, this also brings up another point that Phillip said.

“…little kids who can’t think for themselves, who are taken advantage of. That really wasn’t the case.”

True, Phillip made the stupid mistake of sending these pictures to his friends and family. But, was it not also stupid for the girlfriend to take these underage naked pictures? Should this person be held responsible for their actions? She took the picture of herself, did she not?

Many people really don’t know what Linux is but you will be surprised to know what it’s used for. If you have TIVO you have used a specially written Linux kernel. Roughly 75% of the internet websites that you visit use a Linux kernel as their operating system, In fact if you are reading this you are viewing this page on a server that is running CENTOS as it’s operating system.

Google is one of the largest websites that is known to use linux servers, everyone that is reading I’m sure has used google one time or another if it’s their email service or their web search engine, you have used google which is operated on linux servers. Linux has many uses other than just TIVO and websites It’s also used for many small devices that you use like your cell phone. The google GI smart phone is a well known device that is running a Linux kernel (Android) for a list of cell phones that are running linux click here.

Linux is also very useful to rescue your “sick” Windows computer. There are many useful Linux boot disks that will help you recover forgot windows passwords, scan for viruses, and recover data from your hard drive.

Of course Linux can also be used as a computer operating system, in fact I am writing this on my Linux partition of my laptop. So maybe you want to try Linux on your home computer here is what I personally recommend Ubuntu linux which is a very user friendly version of linux that can be found here .

The most important thing to mention about most Linux partition is that they are completely free and open source. Yes i mean free, free to try forever! so go ahead and give Linux a chance, It’s much more secure and a lot more fun than windows!
